Timed to welcome the arrival of Windows Mobile Version 6.5, MobiHand has just unveiled its On-Device Windows Mobile App Store.

It provides a gateway to exclusive deals, like the popular Deal-of-the-Day, free trials, and a growing catalog of apps priced as low as $0.99 cents. This App Store offers a desktop-quality shopping experience with the convenience and immediacy expected by smartphone users these days.

In the announcement, Steve Howard, MobiHand’s president & CEO said:

Providing an independent alternative to the platform-vendor app stores is beneficial to both consumers and developers. Like any other retailing environment, consumers want to be assured they can find unique products at the lowest price and with the best customer service. And developers want to have multiple sales channels with unique marketing capabilities that ensure they reach all interested consumers.

Following on the success of our BlackBerry On-Device App Store, and with a new version of the Windows Mobile operating system about to be released, we felt the timing was perfect to launch an on-device gateway to our independent app store that is accessible to all Windows Mobile device owners.

LogoBBGeeksLast Friday, Dallas BlackBerry Examiner, Chris Esparza posted a very nice story about the BlackBerry Geeks App Store (which is powered by MobiHand).  Here are some of  the comments he made:

BlackBerry Geeks is a great website that I’ve reviewed before, and they have a an app store you can download for your device that all but blows App World out of the water.

The first time I downloaded the BBGeeks App Store, I immediately liked it more than App World. The UI seems much more fluid and inviting and its menu layout is easier to work with than the RIM version.”

The main thing that sets the BBGeek App Store above RIM’s App World is the inclusion of themes that you can purchase. This is a great addition that I really never understood why RIM didn’t include in their store.

He concluded with the 15-minute challenge. To get started comparing App Store experiences, go here.
