New apps which caught our attention.
Here’s a quick rundown of what’s hot and new for Android.
To start, there’s iMobLife’s Brainwave Tuner (Android Edition).
It is a brain wave stimulation app that generates tones with binaural beats, which can change your brain frequency towards the desired state, be it relaxation or enhanced attention. This week, Resco unveiled Resco Explorer 2010 (also known as Resco Explorer Version 8), a new version of the company’s popular file manager that has been tuned to unite and utilize all the key features of each Windows Mobile device. In fact, it is being referred to as the “Totally Touchable File Manager.”
Per the the company’s press announcement, most of the changes go head to head with improvements of not a long time released new version of Resco Photo Manager.
New features in Explorer 2010:
- Image Upload to Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, Picasa, MySpace and Photobucket — the program is now able to upload image files to the most popular social networks including the largest web image database — Flickr.
- Thumbnails View Mode — The new view mode displays previews of images. It becomes handy (improves the navigation) while seeking in folders with many image files.
- Interaction with Resco Photo Manager — The new Explorer can utilize tools and strengths of Resco Photo Manager. If users have both of these programs installed on a device, they will sense that the thumbnail loading is faster as well as the fact that it supports all the photo manager image types.
- Totally Customizable Today Plug-in — Today plug-in gets new shape and becomes totally customizable — add or remove phone tools, applications or documents. The eventual size of the plug-in, therefore, depends only on your choices.

Leroy Mascarenhas of Xtreme Labs let us know that in partnership with CrackBerry and MTV, they have put together a BlackBerry app called Help Haiti to help raise funds for those suffering from this disaster.
This app itself is FREE. Along with helping facilitate donations (via SMS in $5 or $10 amounts that are added to your monthly cell phone bill), it also serves as a a center for the latest news regarding Haiti. From the Help Haiti app, you can also view photos of the rescue efforts and follow the #haiti and #helpHaiti tweets.
Mascarenhas remarked, “Through this application, those that need it most will receive the help they so desperately need. We thank you for downloading our application, where 100% of the proceeds and donations raised will go towards the following aid groups: Yele, Worldvision and the RedCross.”
There are two versions: One for non-touch devices (BlackBerry OS 4.2, 4.3, 4.5, 4.6, 4.7 Non-Touch, 5.0 Non-Touch) and another for touch devices (BlackBerry OS 4.7 Touch Screen, 5.0 Touch Screen).
