Road Mania, a BlackBerry game from Mobigloo, has been a noticeable chart climber in the MobiHand Network.

RoadMania

According to the description, Road Mania puts you in charge of keeping the traffic flowing on busy junctions and preventing crashes. Vehicles approach the crossroads from all directions. Your role is to either speed them by flicking them with your finger or make them stop by simply tapping on them. For every vehicle that makes it to the other side, you score a point. But if there’s a crash, the game ends.

BlackBerry_Gaming_ChallengeMobigloo has been on the radar for a while, initially garnering attention in 2006 as the Grand Prize Winner or Research in Motion’s first ever BlackBerry Developer Gaming Challenge. Next (now known as Next Dual Pack) was selected based on criteria including originality, quality of graphics and ease of play.

Recently, we (MAB) had an opportunity to interview Sylvain Dufour (SD), the CEO Mobigloo.com.

MAB: How long have you been an app developer?

SD: I have personally been involved in software development for the past 20 years. Mobigloo was incorporated in 2006.

MAB: Which apps are you most proud of?

NinTaiiSD: Probably would have to be Nintaii because it is such an addictive game. We put a lot of effort into building it, designing the 100 levels was quite challenging. We are now working on Nintaii 2 which will include many new gadgets and another 100 levels. We plan on releasing Nintaii 2 in March 2010.

MAB: What makes your apps different from others? Please address functionality as well as looks.

SD: We’re always trying to maintain a high quality in the applications/games we release. We have a fantastic graphic designer in the team and are very proud of the way our apps look. We clearly prefer quality of quantity.

MAB: How did you come up with the idea for Road Mania?

AirTrafficSD: Last year we released Air Traffic Control which was a huge success for us. We thought we could improve on the initial concept and release another game which would take place this time on the road rather than in the air.

The initial launch has been amazing for Road Mania, already #2 overall best selling game for BlackBerry in the MobiHand store.

MAB: What’s your vision for 2010?

SD: We will probably release 5 or 6 new titles in 2010. We love the BlackBerry platform and this will still be our main focus for this year. Overall, the mobile app business will continue to grow dramatically as new players are entering the market… Amazon is providing an SDK to develop rich content for the Kindle, Samsung launching a new OS (Bada) for their new family of smartphones. Exciting times!

MAB: Would also appreciate any thoughts you would like to share about working with MobiHand.

SD: Mobihand makes it very easy to work with. The royalty structure is clear and simple, and the access to all the most successful blogs makes MobiHand a must have partner for any developer of mobile application!
