In a week full of webOS (Palm Pixi) and Google Android (myTouch 3G and Motorola Cliq) news, the Windows Mobile-based, HTC Touch Pro2 was introduced by Verizon Wireless for under $200.
The Touch Pro2 is a global-capable smartphone that features an extra-large 3.6-inch touch screen that tilts to an optimal viewing, an ergonomic slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and an advanced speakerphone with asymmetric speakers and advanced noise suppression. Created with the intuitive TouchFLO 3D user interface, data on the HTC Touch Pro2 can be easily accessed with just the touch of a finger. Check out the announcement for more details.
The Windows Mobile 6.1-based Touch Pro2 is available immediately for $199.99 with a two-year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate. According to CNET’s Bonnie Cha, the price is “way better than some of its competitors (cough, T-Mobile, Sprint, cough, cough) which charge $349.99 for the same device.”
The Coolest Gadget website pointed out that it only comes in one color — black, “so those who are always on the cutting edge of fashion might want to reconsider picking up this business-class smartphone.”
